Ambulatory EEG Across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
From Fort Worth to Frisco, AMS brings long-term video EEG recording to the patient's front door.
Ambulatory EEG in DFW, explained
An ambulatory EEG records brain activity over an extended period using sensors on the scalp and a small wearable recorder. Because the patient stays home, the study reflects everyday life rather than a short office visit. AMS provides ambulatory EEG for patients throughout Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties, working with the physicians who order it.

For DFW neurology groups: one standard at every location
Across the Metroplex, the drive to the clinic shouldn't shape the study. Many DFW groups run offices in several cities. AMS doesn't just bolt on. We become part of your practice, and getting you the data you need to make informed treatment decisions for your patients.
What that looks like, study by study:
- Setup before referrals begin. We capture contacts, ordering preferences, read preferences, preferred montages, and report delivery for each location.
- Prompt scheduling. Complete orders are scheduled within two business days.
- No extra calls for your staff. AMS contacts the patient and explains preparation.
- Our EEG technologists complete hookup in the patient’s home or in your clinic.
- Live monitoring of each recording 24/7, with technical issues handled in real time.
- Flexible reads. AMS neurologists read, or your physicians read through the AMS portal.
Less time on DFW highways
A patient in Denton seeing a neurologist in Dallas, or a family in Mansfield driving to Fort Worth, can lose hours to a single clinic visit. With the study at home, that trip disappears. The recording runs through ordinary days with typical stressors, which is the picture the care team needs.
What DFW referrers and families can count on
- AMS holds Joint Commission accreditation, a proven benchmark of quality.
- Clean, reliable data every time.
- Clinical and management teams that respond when practices need them.
- Consistent quality across all locations in North Texas.

Patients: your EEG, step by step
Your doctor has asked AMS to run your EEG at home. Here is the path:
Before your appointment
-
Wash your hair before your appointment and make sure it's completely dry. Avoid conditioner, gel, hairspray, or other hair products, and do not wear wigs or weaves during the study.
-
Choose a button-down shirt or a comfortable top with a loose neckline for your EEG appointment.
-
Stay on your medicines as prescribed, unless your doctor instructs otherwise.
-
Children need a parent or guardian home during setup.
Questions
Patient FAQs
What's the difference between a routine EEG and an ambulatory EEG?
A routine EEG lasts a short time in a clinic or hospital. An ambulatory EEG keeps recording for a longer period while you're at home, allowing us to collect more meaningful data.
Is it uncomfortable?
An EEG is not painful. You may notice some itching around the sensors.
How long does it record?
As long as your doctor orders. AMS monitors for that entire time. But usually several days
How do I bathe during the study?
You won't be able to shower or take a bath while wearing the EEG equipment, as it must remain dry throughout the recording. However, sponge baths are allowed as long as the sensors and equipment stay dry. Your technologist will provide additional guidance on personal hygiene during the study.
Where do my results go?
To the physician who ordered the test. Contact that office to review them.
